Fred van den Bosch

Chief Executive Officer

Fred van den Bosch is Chief Executive Officer of Librato® and a member of the board of directors. He brings to the company a wealth of experience in the enterprise software industry. During his 14 year career at VERITAS Software (later acquired by Symantec Corporation), Fred played a key role in the company’s success, from a small start-up to a multibillion dollar company, as Executive Vice President of Engineering, Chief Technology Officer and a board member. After leaving VERITAS, he served as Chief Executive Officer of PANTA Systems, a manufacturer of data warehouse appliances. Fred started his career at Stanford Research Institute and also held various engineering and management positions, including Director of Technology, at the Data Systems Division of Philips.

Fred received a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands.


Lee McGrath

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Lee McGrath is responsible for Librato’s financial and administrative operations. He draws on over 20 years in high technology finance. Prior to Librato, Lee was Chief Financial Officer at PANTA Systems, a manufacturer of data warehouse appliances. He also held the Chief Financial Officer position at Versant Corporation, a publicly traded database software company, overseeing the Finance, Investor Relations, IT, Legal and HR functions. Previously Lee was Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Flat Display Systems at Philips Electronics where he was a key contributor in finalizing a $4 billion joint venture with LG Electronics, the largest such transaction by Philips. Prior to Philips, Lee was Controller for Digital Link Corporation. He is also a 15-year veteran of Measurex Corporation (acquired by Honeywell in 1997) in various capacities spanning the globe.

Lee is a Chartered Certified Accountant and holds an MBA from Pepperdine University, California.


Roland Schmidt

Vice President, Sales

As Vice President of Sales, Roland Schmidt is responsible for leading all direct and indirect sales efforts, including strategic partnerships and alliances.  Rollie brings over 35 years of experience delivering leading-edge solutions to the data center.  His roles have spanned engineering, marketing, sales, strategic business development and executive management.  Prior to Librato, Rollie served as Senior Director of OEM Sales Strategy at Citrix Systems for the XenServer virtualization product line. 

Rollie began his career in engineering at Control Data Corporation.  He also held senior product marketing and sales positions at Sun Microsystems.  Rollie is a nine-year veteran of VERITAS Software (now Symantec), where he joined as the first direct sales representative in 1994. After leaving VERITAS, he held Vice President of Sales and Business Development positions at StoredIQ, Creek Path (now HP), Incipient, and Troika Networks (now QLogic).  He also served on the Board of Directors and as Chief Executive Officer at HighWire Software, Inc., a provider of universal rich-client software for Windows. 

Rollie currently serves on the Advisory Board of Storspeed, a provider of the first application-aware storage caching solution.


Dr. Radha Shelat

Vice President and General Manager, Librato India

Dr. Radha Shelat is Vice President and General Manager of Librato India, responsible for leading Librato’s product development center in Pune, India. She brings over 20 years of experience in enterprise software engineering to Librato and has done extensive work with high volume and distributed storage technologies. Prior to joining Librato, she was Chief Technology Officer for Symantec India. During her 13 year tenure at VERITAS Software and later Symantec India, Radha played a vital role in its growth from a team of four engineers to over 1,000.

Radha holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, and has taught and consulted at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.


Dr. Srinidhi Varadarajan

Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder

Dr. Srinidhi Varadarajan co-founded Librato and serves as Chief Technology Officer, responsible for overseeing the company’s technology roadmap. Srinidhi is also the Director of the Center for High-End Computing Systems at Virginia Tech and an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science. He is the architect of System X, the 2200 processor System X supercomputer located at Virginia Tech.

Srinidhi has received numerous awards including the ComputerWorld Honors Award in the Science Category 2004, the CAREER award from the National Science Foundation, the New Century Technology Council Technology Innovation Award and a Faculty Fellow award from the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech. In 2004, he was honored by MIT Technology Review as one of the top 100 (TR100) young innovators transforming technology.

Srinidhi received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the State University of New York, Stony Brook.


John Wernke

Vice President, Marketing

John Wernke serves as Vice President of Marketing, responsible for leading overall marketing direction and product management at Librato.  John has over 25 years of experience in achieving marketing and sales results for high-technology companies.  Prior to joining Librato, John was the Vice President of Sales for agami Systems, a high-performance network attached storage supplier.  Prior assignments include Vice President of Marketing for Persist Technologies, acquired by Hewlett Packard, and Allocity, acquired by EMC.  He served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Metricom, a publicly traded company, where he was responsible for the nationwide launch of the company’s high-speed mobile access product.  Starting his career as a programmer for enterprise software products, John also has held executive and management-level product marketing positions at companies such as Mendocino Software, OpenVision (now Symantec), Harbinger Corporation, Sequent Computers and Reynolds & Reynolds. 

John currently serves on the Advisory Board of ioSafe, makers of disaster proof storage hardware.  John received a B.S. in Information Systems from the University of Cincinnati.
